Do you really want to know my secret to health ?
It is much simpler than you think. Yes, having a nutritionally sound diet, exercising, stress reduction are key. Science has now in the recent years proven that STRESS takes a toll on the body. EMOTIONS I would say is the biggest culprit. Someone whose mind is at ease doesn't usually have health issues whether it be physical or emotional.
Honestly speaking, in my time in this industry, there is one question that I feel will unearth whatever health issues you are tackling.....
" Who's the matter with you ? " Yes " WHO's the matter with you ?
( Who can be a "What" for example recently I was at the bank and receptionist told me she was experiencing a headache earlier in the day. I asked her exactly where was she when the headache began. She told me as soon as she pulled up to work, in the parking lot. I stated the obvious. She paused for a second then admitted that she was expecting the day to be hectic. She is usually working in one of the offices and this day she was schedules as the receptionist. She had to multi-task quite a bit, I witnessed it. But once she got into thegroove of her job, her headache disappeared. )
That WHO can be your spouse, coworker, child, parent and people from the past that you haven't even seen nor spoken to in quite some time. Again the emotions that you have wrapped up in regards to these people could be causing your headaches, neck pain, back pain, leg pain, etc.
In my sessions, my clients have literally felt better just from talking about what has been a sore spot for them while I simultaneously work on them. Health occurs at the speed of safety. Now is this a quick and permanent fix ? No. Because once you leave my table, said person will inevitably trigger you. Your nervous system will get out of whack and that eventuallytransforms to physical pain.
So in some way, you will have to not let them affect you. A few suggestions, Forgiveness, Letting go of the offense, Speak your truth, No longer engage with these people.
Full transparency, I don't ask, " Who's the matter with you ?" per se, I go through my usual intake questions like :
How long have you been having this issue ?
What were you doing when you felt the pain ?
During the course of a session, I am able to quickly find patterns and make connections that my clients miss or are in denial about.
A few examples :
* Some details have been changed to protect privacy
Example 1 - A law student came to me with acute neck pain. He was driving home and somehow suddenly his neck stiffened up on his left side.
So with that information, and other cues his body had shown, I ascertained that the issue was with a female spouse or partner. Now, this was our first and only session, so I knew nothing about him. He told me he was stressed about his upcoming bar exam. I guess that was information that he was more comfortable offering. Each client is different and I have to gauge how open I can be with my questioning. I didn't feel it was appropriate to ask about his marital status because of our age differential and I wanted to maintain my professionalism. Although the information that he gave me didn't quite match up with what I was picking up, he was still able to get the results that he wanted from his session. As I stated, the underlying issues are usually stress related, and once that was addressed, his body would relax and he regained a significant amount of range of motion and his pain was relieved.
( Sidenote: I later found out that his mother in- law and sister in- law were coming into town and he was stressed about that. There goes the female energy that I felt he was worried about )
Example 2- An orthodontist came to me with complaining of chronic headaches, shoulder and neck pain. This is another case of " Who's the matter with you ?" Now in this case I did asked her a question along the lines of what had she been refusing to look at differently. She chuckled and said, " You're trouble. " Apparently, she was having issues with a friend of 40 + years stemming from differing political ideologies that were newly voiced to her ( we'll leave it at that ). She was having a hard time because essentially her friend became someone that she didn't know. We talked that out, I gave her advice and she felt amazing afterwards. She scheduled an appointment for the following week. I was pleased to learn that she no longer felt a weight on her shoulders, she stopped obsessively thinking about her now former friend AND reduced her pain medication by 80%. She has more work to do but this was a great start.
Ok, now you are acquainted some of my philosophy in regards to health. I felt the need to give you a glimpse of how I work. This is my preferred method. The truth is, your body will only heal to the extent that you believe that it can. For most it would look like pain alleviated, a better functioning body through an intentional relationship with it. I really wish that I had a magic pill for you to undo all of the damage but unfortunately , I don't. My best advice for you at this very moment is for you to accept your body as it is and to extend yourself grace. Be kind with yourself. For a great deal of you, this won't be an easy feat but in the end, you have to choose YOURSELF.
Ok, so now you've come to terms with no longer being in a 20 year old's body and that you now require repair and maintenance to stave off pain and discomfort. So now that the shift has been made, you are in the perfect condition to
Work with me and to regain control of your body, obtaining optimal efficiency, performance and health.
You no longer have to be in a body that doesn't obey your commands like a stubborn 3 year old. But sometimes you along the way have forgotten to connect to your body. It's time for you to remember that you are in control. The power is ultimately in your hands to heal your body. I've heard all of the ways you have reasoned not prioritizing your health. It seems and feels more convenient to just pop a pill or 6 to get temporary relief. You have many relationships in this life. You have a relationship with yourself, your family, your job/work/business. How is that going ? But you are here to see about your body. What is your relationship with your body ? I'm guessing, not a healthy one. Your body is feeling ignored and neglected. Your body feels last in line, last on your priority list, if it even made the list.
I've heard all of the objections. The most common are :
